How I got my hands on the Kylie Lipkits and my experience ordering from the UK

How I got my hands on the Kylie Lipkits and my experience ordering from the UK

So, I thought what better way to start this blog off than by talking about one of the most sought after beauty products of the year ... The Kylie Lipkits!!

Posie K, Candy K, Heir K, King K, Reign K

Unless you live under a rock, I'm pretty sure that you will have seen these all over YouTube, Instagram and various other social media platforms. They are famous for selling out within minutes and, despite almost weekly restocks, seem almost impossible to get hold of. However, I have been lucky enough to get hold of the shades I wanted (Look out for a review of them soon). So if you want to hear my tips and tricks on how to get your hands on them in the UK then please keep reading...

Before we get into this, I should probably let you know that you're going to have to put in some serious effort to get one; so you should probably decide now whether or not you think they're worth it.

Brilliant, you've decided they're worth it, I knew you would!!

Tip One
This one is a pretty obvious one but never the less worth mentioning; decide what you want before it comes time to purchase. You will not have time to browse the site to see what shades you like, by the time you've decided what you want they'll have probably sold out. So do your research, get on YouTube, Instagram Etc and look at swatches.

Tip Two
Find out when the next restock date is. There are two ways to do this; the most reliable way is to download and subscribe to Kylie's App. If you have not done so before you'll get a 30 day free trial (you must cancel the subscription before the 30 days are up or you will be charged), if you've used your free trial already I believe it costs £2.29 per month. This is the only place that Kylie announces the dates and times of the restocks (She announced on her Snapchat once and literally broke the internet!). However, if you don't want to pay for this information, there are multiple Instagram pages dedicated to getting the word out. Two that I personally follow are Kylielipkit_updates and Lipkitbykylieupdates This is how I found the restock information both times I ordered.

Tip Three
Get ready!! Make sure that your phone/laptop/tablet/ipad's or whatever device you are using is on and connected to the internet (again pretty obvious but worth mentioning). Make sure you're on the site at least five minutes before the launch goes live. If you've got the timing right you'll be greeted by the 'OMG you know what this means' screen.

Tip Four
DO NOT RELY ON THE REFRESH BUTTON!! For some strange reason, simply clicking refresh will not load the website when the restock is live. You Must open a new window.

Tip Five
Have your card and shipping information in front of you and ready to go. Just because an item is in your basket does not mean that you have it, they will be removed if the item sells out and they sell out fast, especially if it is a new product launch. So get it in your basket and check out fast!!

Now hopefully you were successful and have what you wanted, so what happens next? First of all you'll receive a conformation email, letting you know that your order was successful and being processed. Secondly, you'll receive your shipping notice, this can be anything up to a week later. Once you have this you are able to track your order. Shipping time in the US is 3-6 business days, for the UK its 10-15 business days. All orders are handled by USPS until they arrive in their destination country, where they are then handed over to your local postal service - in the case of the UK that would be Royal Mail. Shipping to the UK is $15.

My experience ordering from the UK
I've ordered from Kylie Cosmetics twice now. My first order (Posie K and Candy K) took a lot longer to arrive than the second (all three metals) but both arrived within 15 business days. I was lucky enough not to be charged customs on either of them, Royal Mail delivered them to my door as they would any other package. However, that does not mean you will not be charged a customs fee! I have friends that have ordered less than me and have had to pay customs. In the case of a customs charge Royal Mail will leave a grey card stating that you have a charge to pay before you can have your order. You can either pay on line and have it delivered or pay at your local sorting office on collection. This charge is usually around £14 (including and £8 handling fee from Royal Mail).

Things to consider when ordering from the UK
The main thing to consider when ordering from the UK is the cost. At $29 per Lipkit, $15 shipping and a possible £14 customs charge you could end up paying a whopping £53!! As much as I like the Lipkits, no lipstick is worth that much. A good way to save money is to order with friends and split the shipping and possible customs charges.

This post is a lot longer than I anticipated so I'll wrap it up here. I hope this helped answer some of your questions about ordering from the UK. If you have any questions or comments, please do leave them below.
