Halloween Tag

Halloween Tag

So, this post is going to be a bit different from anything that I've done so far; this is my first lifestyle post and my first blogging tag post. Leonie from MissLeonieWilson tweeted that she was doing the Halloween tag and asked if anyone else would like to be tagged in it. Seeing as I love Halloween I jumped at the chance and now here we are - I guess I'll just jump straight into it ...

1. How much do you enjoy Halloween?

A lot!! growing up my dad loved Halloween, we'd always have Halloween parties and he'd go all out on the decorations and costumes (as I type this hes getting the house and the graveyard, aka his front garden, ready for tomorrows festivities). My mum was equally as creative with the food. Every year we'd have dead men's toes (cocktail sausages), witches fingers (twiglets) and a whole array of spooky themed food. I have such good memories of Halloween and this is something I've tried to make sure my son has too.

2. How do you get into the Halloween spirit?

The 1st of October means that its time to bring out Hocus Pocus. I know everyone says it but that film sums Halloween up to me. I also love going to all the different supermarkets to look at the Halloween aisles (sad I know). The past few years my son and I have really gotten into Halloween face painting, we do loads of differnt looks/characters to help us decide what to dress up as each year.
3. Favourite decoration

One year my dad got a boiler suit and a werewolf mask and gloves and made a life sized wolf decoration, that was pretty good. I also love a good pumpkin carving session. We always use the stencils you get online to do really good ones. This year we've got a Lord Voldemort and a Professor Snape among others.

4. If you could have a spooky Halloween pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), what would you pick?

Definitely a black cat and he'd be called Thackery Binks

5. Whats your weird/odd fear?
I'm terrified of clothes pegs, although its not as weird as it sounds. I'm absolutely petrified of spiders and they live in clothes pegs. My mum always used to peg the washing out and as shed press them to get the washing in the spiders would string down on their web out of them (makes me cringe just thinking about it. Safe to say that I stick to the tumble dryer.

6. Favourite scary movie?

I don't have one, I'm a wuss!! This year was the first time I've watched Scream (thanks to the #GGMovieNights) and that was enough for me. I do love a good creepy film though, Tim Burton movies are my absolute favourites - Edward Scissor Hands, Coraline, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Mars Attacks are my top picks.

7. Best costume?

I haven't dressed up in a good few years now, it's all about finding something cool for my son. Last year we did a ventriloquist dummy and the year before he was a zombie from Plants Vs Zombies.

8. Do you prefer gore or thrillers?

As a wuss, definitely a thriller!

9. If you were dared to spend the night in a "haunted house", would you do it?

God No! I'm bad enough if I hear a strange noise in my own house.

10. Would you rather go to a Halloween party or trick or treating?

I never really did trick or treating as a kid and it's not something I really do with my son, we go to friends and family but I find the whole concept of knocking on a strangers door for sweets a bit creepy. So definitely a Halloween party.

I've had a bit of a realisation writing this, I'm a huge wimp and only like Halloween because I get to act like a kid and eat sweets and do you know what?I'm cool with that

Happy Halloween guy's

  1. I loved this post! I love everything about Halloween. When I eventually get my own home, I'll decorate it like crazy with Halloween decorations. Most people think I'm sad haha. I've never seen a nightmare before Christmas but I really want to.. I'll HAVE to find a link for it tonight. Hocus Pocus is the best though :) x

  2. It's funny, I don't really decorate my house because I always go to my mum and dads so it feels wasted. Plus I don't want to fool trick or treaters into thinking we're home, I don't want to get egged 😂 omg you have to watch it. It's so good but the songs will get stuck in your head 😂 xx
