Disney Movies I do not like

Disney Movies

Before you think I'm a traitor and decide that you'll never speak to me ever again, hear me out. Last night I was reading some blog posts I found through Tuesday nights GRLPOWR chat on twitter and came across a post by thatmumarocks, it was her favourite Disney movies. I really enjoyed reading and thought it was something I'd like to share. So I started to think about my favourite Disney movies and this is where I found a problem; I love so many of them that the post would have turned into a small book - actually, it'd probably have been a pretty big book. So I decided instead it would be easier to write a post on Disney movies I don't like (or just love a bit less than the others) ...

I just wanted to start with a little disclaimer - if these are your favourite movies and you absolutely adore them, I'm sorry. I'm not saying they're bad films or story lines, they just ain't for me.

Mary Poppins
I really don't like Mary Poppins, I don't know why I just find it boring. I know its a classic but to me its dated. Saving Mr Banks on the other hand I absolutely love!

Into The Woods
Now I know there's a lot of people that loathe this movie, I heard nothing but bad things about it BUT when it came to Netflix I thought why not give it a go. I don't know if it was because it had been bashed so much so I didn't have high (well actually ANY) expectations but I didn't think it was that bad.... That was until I thought the movie was over, checked on Netflix and it still had 40 more minutes to go. Prince Charming kissing the bakers wife, Jack's mum dying what a load of unnecessary crap.

Ratatouille
I just didn't love it and so I never reach for it when I'm looking for something to watch. There are so many better Pixar films.

Junglebook
This may surprise you but it's the original cartoon that I don't like. The songs are catchy but that's about it and don't even get me started on mogli leaving the jungle because he saw a girl!! The new live feature film is incredible and I could watch it time and time again.

The Legend of Tarzan
What a disappointment that was. For me, it wasn't Tarzan and lets not get started on the lack of Phil Collins soundtrack.

Dumbo
I know its another classic but again I just think its blah and boring!

Are there any Disney films that you don't see what all of the fuss is about? or are you one of the rare people that doesn't see the fuss about Disney at all? Let me know in the comments below.

  2. Great idea for a post! I have to agree with you on Mary poppins, it's not that I hate it.. I just don't love it as much as others & I agree it is a bit dated now :).

  3. I don't like Into the Woody or Mary Poppins either. I haven't watched Dumbo in ages because I just find it far too sad! Plus Tarzan I didn't think was very girly so I didn't enjoy it, I agree with all of these!

  4. There's a few of these I haven't seen (like the cartoon version of Jungle Book) but with the ones I have seen I agree, I mean I found Ratatouille to be really underwhelming as well.
